About Us

Our Story: History, Heritage, and Passion

Harvest Meats is founded on long-standing family traditions. Our great grandfather, Alexander Propp, and his family started a sausage business in Rhein, Saskatchewan in 1928. Since then, with over four generations of family management and growth, we’ve expanded into food retailing, wholesaling, and even the restaurant sector.

Currently, Harvest Meats operates in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, under the management of Kenn Propp as President. Kenn’s eldest son, Geoff, joined the management team in 2017, becoming the fourth generation of continual family management. The Propp family have kept 50 of the original recipes for our products to this day. Recognizing changes in consumer tastes, we have also added about 150 new recipes to expand the selection of delicious products.

Today, our team has grown to over 300 people at a facility with over 186,000 square feet. True to our heritage, we continue to produce delicious products, using state-of-the-art equipment within a safety-first team culture.

Our Products

We still make our products the traditional way. We put quality ingredients in our products and only use select cuts of pork and beef. We do not use meat fillers or by-products. All of our smoked products are naturally smoked using real hardwood chips, not artificial chemical dips or sprays. Most of our products are gluten free, and MSG is not added.

Our People

With four generations of family management, Harvest Meats holds our family values strong within the organization. Everyone is a part of our extended family and we remain true to our roots, providing a small-town community-minded experience. Today, there are hundreds of people in the Harvest Meats family who provide quality products for customers nationwide, so it’s no surprise that every member of our family is very important to us!
